Interior Designer: Emily Roose of Emily Roose Interiors
Designing custom spaces takes thinking outside of the box and really getting to know the clients so you can give them what they don’t even know that they want. There are the basic design styles that we are all accustomed to like traditional, transitional, contemporary, modern and so on. Does everyone fit perfectly into one of those design styles? In my opinion and years of experience, no. These design styles for me start as the base to work with when talking and getting to know my clients. I have found that everyone has the base style or styles they like, but they have their own individual personalities that morph that style to fit their genuine uniqueness.
When starting the design process I provide my clients with two things. First, a simple survey to gather the basic details. Then I give them a photo presentation I have carefully compiled over the years to see what images they are drawn too to get a better sense of where to start from when designing their space. Through these documents I get a good foundation to start building from and it also helps me to dig further and ask deeper questions to get to know them better, how their daily lives look, pain points they have, things that they love or work great for them already so we are not reinventing the wheel, and if there is anything they really dislike or even allergic too.
Interior design is personal. It is meant to better the lives of those that will be using the spaces. We all want to live in a place that is a sanctuary to us. We work hard and at the end of the day we need a place that wraps us in comfort, understanding, and rejuvenation so we recharged for each day. We need spaces we enjoy sharing with loved ones and friends. Everyone is unique and different so design should be too.
So, welcome! Welcome to my little design corner of the world. Creating unique luxe spaces that represent my clients and not made to fit in a one-size-fits-all boring design box. I will take on my journey as a designer with over 13 years of experience that spans multiple states as well as residential, commercial, hospitality, multi-family developments, e-design, and even my favorite passion of furniture and product design. If you have burning design questions then reach out. You never know it just might be the perfect topic that others are interested in as well and I will create a post about it. I want to share my passion for design with you and want to help you live a better life if possible. Join me and let’s journey through a unique and beautiful world together!
